UPDATE - 7th July 2020

Dear Members,

Given today's announcement from the Victorian State Government and the revised Government restrictions, it is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that the Club will have to cease training as of midnight tomorrow.

This is very disappointing for the players who have been training so enthusiastically despite the restrictions.

For teams scheduled to train tomorrow night it will be at the discretion of the Coach whether they choose to run a final training session and each family's choice whether their child attends.

AFLSE will be reviewing further updates over the coming days from the Victorian Government in relation to the 2020 junior season. We hope to have further information for you by the end of the week.

Training Update - as at 1st June 2020

It was great to have Footy training back last week albeit in a slightly different style.

It was definitely worth it to see how excited the kids were and given the high attendance at training it has been a long time coming.

Thank you to our coaches who are doing a great job adapting to the new protocols.

Also a huge thank you to Grant Walker who has taken on the role of Football Manager, he is doing a fantastic job coordinating 23 coaches/teams in this ever changing landscape.

This week we are allowed to train in 2 groups of 20 players with the addition of coaching and support personnel.

The capacity on the oval is 2 groups of up to 20 players but they MUST stay within their allocated half of the oval and not mix.

Parents/Guardians please help us by reminding players of the following:
** Let your Coach or Team Manager know if players cannot attend training, so they can prepare their groups accordingly.

** Use hand sanitiser as soon as they arrive and before leaving training.

** No contact - including during warm up before training commences.

Thank you to the Committee for all your hard work to get everything organised to keep our members safe and healthy.

GO WICKERS!

Statement re: 2020 Season from AFL South East

AFL South East (AFLSE) would like to issue the following statement regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the impact on the upcoming football and netball season and associated AFLSE events.

Due to the increasing threat of coronavirus (Covid-19) to the broader community AFL South East, consistent with the advice from the AFL, has made the informed decision to delay the start of all football and netball competitions and programs under its governance until after June 1.

Our position will be reviewed around May 11 and applies to competitions and programs managed by AFLSE including;

  • AFL South East Top-Age

  • Frankston and Districts Junior Football League (FDJFL)

  • Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (MPNFL)

  • Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League (MPJFL)

  • South East Juniors (SEJ)

  • South Eastern Women’s Football (SEWF)

  • AFLSE / SUA Umpiring

  • Representative Football and Netball

  • NAB Auskick

The delayed start to the season includes a ban on training and practice matches, effective immediately.

Umpire Training has already been suspended across the AFLSE Region until further notice.

Key operational staff are currently working through different scenarios on how the season may look – with the well-being of all participants and the integrity of the competition at the forefront of mind.

All league events, including but not limited to the MPNFL/SEWF Season Launch, scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, and the SEJ Little Demons Day, scheduled for Sunday, April 19, will be postponed until further notice.

In addition, the AFLSE Regional Junior Championships will also be postponed for 2020. We will be working closely with all leagues and NGA programs to maximise the opportunities for all participants in the talent pathway.

In addition, all face-to-face league meetings and forums have been postponed until further notice. Where possible and appropriate meetings will be conducted through online meetings or webinars.

The relevant Operational Staff will provide details for each of the relevant meetings well in advance.

The AFLSE Commission and Administration understand the serious nature of this matter and are looking to lead and support our clubs and community with considered decision making.

We ask that clubs report confirmed COVID-19 cases for their players, administrators and volunteers to shaun@aflse.com.au. Details to include club, gender and age. If supplied, additional details will be kept in the strictest confidence.

At this stage, as per our advice last week training will be continuing as usual, however this may change at short notice as further health advice is provided by the Government and AFL Victoria.

A reminder to please follow these guidelines to help keep our BJFC Footy Family healthy:
